I know, this is not what any of us in Silicon Valley are supposed to believe. Google is the big old evil ripe for disruption; Perplexity is the new Google in the making, etc, etc;
Whatever you think of Google, Perplexity is not the next Google. No need to make a big weekly essay out of this. Just sharing my 2 cents.
I am not saying I know what, if anything, replaces the dominance of Generalist Search Engines, but one thing is pretty clear to me that in the world of AI, specialization is going to matter quite a big deal. And, in real life, we are going to see is a lot more of specialized search such as Open Evidence(of no affiliation, but do let them know where you found them 😉)and a lot less of generalist search engines that look super impressive for the inexperienced users, but ultimately lose out on quality to anyone who has any idea what they are doing. 🎤 💧
Have a good week everybody!
p.s. long weekend flight. Did not have time to push “Publish” on Sunday. See you next week.
